Week 1 down…
So this week I learnt a lot.. about injuries. Not the best lesson to experience but certainly the most important. I pulled muscles in my back which put me out of fitness activity for the majority of the week but that doesn’t mean I sat on my butt. What that meant was that instead I focused on my healthy eating, light walking and stretching.
Stretching is honestly the most important part of any routine, I have been doing this daily however, my injury taught me that I need to focus on strengthening my core muscles. This doesn’t mean 1000s of sit ups what it means is focused and controlled strengthening of my entire core (including obliques). To add into my routine now I have included twice weekly Pilates and always always always turn that core on.
Of course other things to keep in mind are; get enough sleep, warm up properly and drink lots of water during the day. Preventative measures are much better than treatment measures and from personal experience it has taught me how important it is.
One thing is for sure I cannot wait to get back into the gym this week - definitely missing it!!!
A couple of weeks ago I was set a challenge by my fabulous personal trainer - to set up a blog to track my progress this year. My progress towards getting healthier, fitter and stronger, after all it is a lifestyle. I decided to accept the challenge and share with everyone my experiences and some of my own personal steps towards living a healthier lifestyle.
This week I’ve decided to change it up … adding a HIIT class and boxing class to the mix of 2 PT sessions and 2 cardio gym sessions. With an hour workout only 4% of my day I know that making time for these sessions won’t be an issue but staying motivated during my work day to eat clean will be my biggest challenge. I will work on developing / sourcing some fabulous clean eating recipes to add onto the blog as well.
Of course, I don’t know everything and welcome feedback and suggestions!
Whilst I will certainly be tracking my fitness goals this blog will also include posts of what inspires me whether it be food, travel, fashion and music.
Have a fabulous week!
